In this video I let Raspberry Pi get its own back on STM, revealing 5 ways in which the RP2350 microcontroller is better than the STM32F4 - for the most flexible replacement ROM for your retro systems, One ROM.

The reasons are:

  1. Dual core The RP2350 has dual ARM (or RISC-V) cores, in contrast to the STM32F4’s single core.
  2. Overclocking I’ve stably overclocked the RP2350 to over 500MHz, but the STM32F4 only to around 250MHz.
  3. PIOs The RP2350 parallel IO state machines give me the chance of even more additional processing power.
  4. Documentation Both MCUs have good documentation, but the RP2350 wins.
  5. Marketing Hardly an engineer’s dream reason, but the Raspberry Pi brand gets more publicity for your hobbyist product.
